The twelfth verse of the Shraman Sutra describes how Om is the essence of the Namokar Mantra,
'Arihanta Asrira Airiye Uvajjhaya Munino Panchakhar Nippano Omkaro Panchparamitthi'.
The initial letters of the names of the five divine personalities combine to make Om or Aum according
to the following formulation:
Arlhant - A
Asharirl (Siddha) - A
Acharya - A
Upadhyaya - U
Muni (Sadhu) - M
A +A +A=A... 3 A sounds combine to make A
A+U=0O ... A and U combine to make O
O+M=OM or Aum
Om is the base. It is the mother and source of all sounds. When chanting Om, we are also chanting the
Namokar Mantra. When chanting the Namokar Mantra, Om is there, everywhere. Om is the original
sound. Om represents the three main forces in nature, A stands for creation, U for preservation and M
for destruction.
According to the particular power of the sound, or the combination of sounds, a mantra will have an
effect of creation, preservation or destruction. The Narmokar Mantra basically uses the destructive
force since without the destruction of bad karma nothing beneficial can be attained.
Namo Arihantanam, Namo Airiyanam, Namo Loe Savva Sahunam have destructive power.Â
The
Namokar Mantra also includes the powers of creation and preservation. Through the mantra, one can
attain divine knowledge and samadhi, which is the blissful state of self - realization. The divine
knowledge of Namo Uvajjhayanam is representative of creation. And the samadhi of Namo Siddhanam
represents preservation.
Om can be used as a shorter form of the Narmokar Mantra, as can Arhum or A, Si, A, U, Saya Namah.
In order to describe the meaning of the Arhum Yoga logo, we must describe the
meaning of Om, Hreem and Arhum. These three interrelated sounds symbolize the
techniques and the aim of Arhum Yoga. They symbolize knowledge of the external,
the internal and the Supreme. They are Right Knowledge (Arhum), Right Faith (Om) and Right
Conduct (Hreem). Visualize the picture of Hreem, Om, Arhum. First on the outside is Hreem; this is
the universe, nature and the five elements. Embedded in this lies Om whose positive energy moves in
one direction to the Supreme, completely and wholeheartedly. In the center there is an unmoving flame
of fire burning brightly. This is Arhum, the power of the soul. It is the Arihant, the soul in its perfected
state. The meaning is that you are the universe or Hreem. Your entire energy is Om, and your soul
realizes its highest state of perfection, Arhum. By this system you can know the world, you can see
how energy moves and you can see your Self, how all powers awaken. Watch and arouse yourself.
Sound is the base of this knowledge. When you see Reality, then you will understand that this is the
complete picture of the Supreme - omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent.
By using the following variations we can balance the effects of the planets, as understood astrologically:
